Help me give my students food and pencils. They often come to school hungry and without needed learning materials. I work and live in a low socio-economic town.
I started my teaching career in my hometown, and 27 years later am still proud to try my best along with my colleagues to educate our kids to the best of our ability. We are a community of limited resources. I have worked at the elementary level, in special education administration, and now as a high school special education teacher. One thing that has only increased during my years of teaching is the number of kids who come to school unprepared—prepared with materials (pencils) or with being mentally ready. Food insecurity in my community has grown over my time in education, and I feel strongly about having students feel ready to learn and to get their best learning daily, they need to be nourished. Please fund this project that helps even the playing field for many of the kids I come in contact with every day.
