My Project

I teach in a school where 100% of our students receive free and reduced breakfast and lunch. Many of our students get the majority of their meals from the school, for some it may be their only meals of the day. Unfortunately, some of our classes have to wait a very long time between breakfast and lunch, leaving them hungry and unfocused in the middle of the morning.

"The physical and cognitive development that supports learning and productivity requires an army of nutrients" (Heifer International, 2021).

Its as simple as this: students who experiences food insecurity and who do not receive adequate nutrition cannot learn effectively in the classroom. My hope with this project is to provide extra snacks and food to students without proper access, and to give kids some ownership in their eating.
