This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a diverse community. My school is safe place where all members of our diverse community learn side by side with one another. My classroom is an ICT classroom where students with special needs are integrated into a general education classroom.
It is my school's mission to welcome and celebrate all peoples and to nurture them to be more reflective, cooperative, and kindhearted.
More than 96% of our students are poor enough to qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
Our students will use series books to help provide them with opportunities to discover books that not only capture their imaginations, but help them grow as readers as well. As English language learners the 1st way the resources are used is to create a common dialogue among students and teachers.
Having such a large quantity and selection of series books has allowed for students and teachers to all be reading and studying the same texts in both book clubs and guided reading.
These series books will also help spark book talks in allowing students to articulate and support their thinking about books.
We also need a book cart along with bins to be able to organize and house the books in our classroom. The bins will also allow for the books to be organized by level. The cart and bins will ensure that both teachers and students will have easy access to these books in the classroom.
