My students are a unique group of learners that come from diverse backgrounds. They are courageous, eager, young beings that are hungry for the opportunity to be successful. My students come to class with the expectations high and the encouragement flowing.
My children work hard to improve their vocabulary and comprehension skills on a daily basis.
These students are determined to enhance their speaking and listening skills. These little minds are being prepared for future endeavors. Please, help me, help our future leaders become superior.
My Project
Funding this project will allow my students the opportunity to explore realistic topics, be exposed to vocabulary they are unfamiliar with, and clarify their understanding. My students struggle in one of the most crucial areas of reading; comprehension and vocabulary. These two skills are critical for student success in ALL subject areas.
This project was created to help my students obtain resources that will expose them to content which will clarify the meaning of unfamiliar terms, as well as guide them to a better understanding.
These materials will be used in a small group instructional setting for the students to practice reading fluency, word recognition, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. The teacher will assist the small group through modeled and guided instruction by demonstrating methods students may use to analyze, define, and understand text. The non-fiction leveled readers will not only be utilized to teach students informational content, but it will also be a resource that will engage student interests to aid in the progression of student achievement.
