Hungry Brains Can't Learn Pt. 2

My Students

"I grew two levels!" a student exclaimed. Students cannot wait to share their growth with their peers and teachers at our school. Our students attend a zoned school in east Nashville where 100% of students receive free lunch. All students walk or are driven to school, and parents and families are eager to be a part of our community!

My students are full of love!

I cannot wait to see each of their faces in the morning. Every day, we start with literacy centers, go to specials (yoga, gym, music, or math intervention), whole group reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Every day, they grow socially and academically to be their best selves.

My Project

In August, I posted a project to get snacks for our classroom. Many gracious donors provided us with snacks, but now we are out of snacks. This quantity of snacks should last us through spring break (March 2019). We have snack every day during reading since there is a long amount of time between breakfast and lunch. These snacks are also used when there is a student who doesn't care for the lunch options so they still have something to eat. Hungry brains can't learn... science has proven it! Our basic needs need to be met before we can learn and get closer to third grade.
