Imagine being a preschooler and going to school for the first time virtually instead of having the customary hands-on, in-person experience. My students are curious, willing to learn, explore, and eager to learn as much as they are exposed to virtually. These students are future engineers, mathematicians, scientists, and problem solvers.
My Project
Blocks help these future STEM leaders realize they can build a wall to prevent Humpty Dumpty from falling. Blocks are standard equipment in the preschool classroom because they encompass hands-on learning of important skills and abilities such as fine motor, creativity, problem-solving, imagination, spatial sense, math, science, and even literacy skills. I want to replicate this learning experience for each child during our remote learning day.
Many of the students live in small quarters and have very limited resources therefore owning blocks may not be a priority.
I would like each child to own a set of blocks so that I can challenge him/her while playing and also demonstrate to parents how to use the blocks to help their child acquire these important STEM skills.
