Hummingbird Robotics and Computer Science

Help me give my students access to robotics materials that build on both circuitry and computer science. The Hummingbird robotics use the Micro:Bits that we currently have and allow designers to create and code using LEDs and servos.

My Project

I work with a diverse group of students in grades 6-8 who are learning about design thinking through units focusing on video game design, circuits, 3D design, and computer science.

My students will design with the Hummingbird Flock and then mentor their younger partners at our K-5 elementary school.

The Hummingbird Flock which is four complete premium Hummingbird kits with servos and LEDs will help to expand our access to materials to dive deeper into circuits and computer science through making.

The Hummingbirds are able to work with Micro:Bits and cardboard to create different robotic projects that integrate making and coding together in a very approachable way for our designers. Designers are able to use servos, LEDs, and other interactive pieces from the Hummingbird kits to connect and code with the Micro:Bits that we currently have in our classroom. My students love to try to create new things which require access to materials that our budget doesn't cover.
