My Students

My students are in their first year of middle school. They are eager and excited for all things science. Our Project Lead the Way curriculum provides students many opportunities to solve real-world problems that exist today and may exist in the future. This is an introduction to careers in science, technology and engineering. In order to create the best possible learning environment for my students, I begin with helping them to develop a growth mindset. This enables them to persevere as they learn from failure since all of their solutions are innovative and new.

My Project

We are in our inaugural year of our middle school and have been inspired by the "Humans of New York" blog. We are working to create our own, "Humans (of our new school)" story.

It is our desire to create an online blog with photos and short stories about the people and students at our school and how they make our school a great place to be.

We need these iPads to create, edit, and post our "humans" stories as a motivational and uplifting documentary of our inaugural year here. My students have been asked to consider and share, "Who's your one?" Is it a friend who comforted you during a difficult time? A family member who always encouraged you to do your best? or A teacher who saw something in you when no one else did? We all have someone who has gone above and beyond to show us kindness; someone who shifts our perspective, helps us through painful moments or inspires us to be kinder in our daily lives.
