This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are reading Sold by Patricia McCormick about human trafficking in class but need copies that can be checked out from our school library.

My students are in a high poverty area with limited access to engaging texts that peak their interest.

They are enthralled with this book but some students need additional time to complete their reading. Currently there are only enough books for students to share in class.

My Project

Students will be able to check these books out of our school library and be able to continue reading this fascinating book at home. They (even unmotivated students) are enjoying reading this book, but there are only enough copies for students to share in the classroom. Allowing students to be able to re-read, catch up, or read ahead is critical in keeping students interested in reading and finding other books they might be interested in.

This is a book that ALL my students are enjoying reading.

If students are able to take books home, they are able to not only stay current on the reading, but also be able to talk about the issues addressed in this book. Many parents have also expressed interest in wanting to read this book. What a great way to get families reading and talking.
