Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach an incredible group of elementary students in Jackson Heights who come to art class full of curiosity, creativity, and joy. They speak many languages, come from diverse backgrounds, and all share a love for expressing themselves through art. I love how fearless they are when it comes to trying new techniques, experimenting with materials, and using color to tell their stories.
These materials will turn our art room into a vibrant, hands-on creative lab where every child can shine.The stickers and labels will become part of the creative process—used in collage, labeling student work, and designing original pieces.
The paint sticks, markers, and colorful paper provide tools that are easy to use, especially for younger grades who benefit from mess-free, quick-drying options. The hole punches and alphabet stickers support fine motor skills and give students ways to personalize their artwork. Every item in this project helps my students build confidence, stay engaged, and express their individuality in bold, beautiful ways.
