How to Save, Invest, Borrow, & Spend Your Hard-Earned Money
My students need snacks such as fruits snacks, crackers, juice, and granola bars to begin their very own student store to learn financial literacy skills.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"If you want to thrive in today's economy, you must challenge the status quo and get the financial education necessary to succeed," Robert Kiyosaki said, and I agree. Math is very important in our everyday lives. My students need practice with developing their financial literacy skills.
I work with a large culturally and linguistically diverse group of learners.
I work with students with autism, students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, and students who may benefit from small group interventions. Close to 90% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, and about 60% of our students are English language learners.
My Project
This will be the first year we will have a student store. We need the a variety of snacks such as fruit snacks, juice, and healthy chips to open our class store. I would like to challenge my having them use certain groupings of coins to buy items from the classroom store in a playful and engaging way. They will learn coin values and equivalencies. Students will get an item from the store in exchange for participating, following class rules, helping their peers while at they same time motivating them to learn about money. My students will immediately recognize the usefulness of knowing the value of each coin and will connect what they are doing with their own shopping experiences outside of the classroom.
Please help my students by contributing to a variety of snacks such as fruits snacks, crackers, juice, and granola bars to begin their very own student store to become financially literate.
These items will help my students have a better understanding of their money skills and how to become financially responsible individuals.
