My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher at a low income school district in Missouri. Our district has undergone a major restructuring this year. We have transitioned to primary buildings that will serve pre-k through 2nd grade students. The goal of this model is to give students a strong foundation to their educational career.

Sensory play/input is so important for little minds and bodies!

Offering students the opportunity to explore their environment with their whole body will create a positive learning experience that will impact future success.

My Project

My hope is to use engineering boxes to offer my students the chance to learn how things work. These boxes will allow students the flexibility to use a variety of materials and their imagination to create and invent exciting new things.

When children work through problems using experimentation, they gain greater insight about the world around them.

Age appropriate tools for building and observation are important to student success. Talking about what they build and observe will also boost social and language skills.

The materials I selected will align with state standards and can be used to enhance learning across the curriculum. Students who are happy and engaged while learning, will want to learn more.
