My students need a camcorder and bag to enable them to record their presentations.

My Students
Do you remember the first time you ever saw yourself on a home video or school video? It causes a very reflective reaction. Seeing yourself on video can make you more critical of yourself, as well as point out positives.
My students attend an alternative school.
They do not recognize their own self-esteem issues. They are typically low-income and have not had the best of opportunities. Our campus is designed to raise their behavioral and academic standard and conduct. These go hand in hand.
My Project
This camcorder will allow them to see the fruits of their labor. It will serve as a wake up call to those who aren't putting forth their best effort and an ego boost for those who accomplish their goals. Being an observer and grader of your own work fosters higher accountability, without a teacher picking apart your work.
As they combat their reputations, they will be able to provide video of their work to their home campus, demonstrating a new level of work ethic and achievement.
This project is very important because my students need to see themselves in a better light.
They will also recognize how others might view them. It promotes an awareness that will make them reflect on how to overcome those personal and external judgments.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
