Its a pleasure to walk in and say Good Morning everyday! Each day I ask myself how am I going to challenge and enrich the "Whole Child"?
My students are eager learners that crave knowlege and hands on experiences.
They consist of 22 gifted fifth grade students from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds. They are forunate to attend a school in a lovely city, Miami Beach. Academically, they are on their "A" game as they strive to do their very best. Simultaneously, the same students are always up for a challenge as they engage in hands-on activities and real world problem solving. As these students attend an International Bacculearate school they partake in thematic planners, developng connections to the real world and becoming internationally minded. Currently, they are becoming aware and exposed to STEAM content which supports the manner in which they enjoy learning. At times resources are limited and insufficient to support the enriched curriculum that they thirst for.
My Project
Students will design an indoor garden and will investigate plant growth as it relates to lighting, water and soil type. In order to explore and investigate this topic students will need to have the adequate amount of supplies. An indoor garden will allow for opportunities to compare plant growth as it pertains to sunlight verses artificial light and an outdoor hydroponics station will afford the student the opportunity to investigate plant growth as it relates to nutrient rich water as a source of food,
Show me, Don't tell me!
I am ready to provide what my students are yearning for. Learning that is authentic and meaningful where connections to the real-world are made and teamwork is part of the process.
