Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach sixth grade science in an urban area where 95% of our students receive free lunch and 100% receive free breakfast. The neighborhood is a diverse mix of ethnic backgrounds.

My students come into the classroom lacking in supplies and background experiences. I provide as many hands-on activities as possible. This allows my students to gain some experiences that will help them to achieve to their potential.

During our next unit we will be investigating how light works. My students need basic supplies to explore and figure out how physics is a part of their world. We will need flashlights and plenty of batteries to keep them working. A laser pointer and an laser pointer kit will help us to find out how light moves and how we can use light to help us do things. An optics kit will help us learn about other aspects of light.

You can make all of these experiences possible for my students. With your generous donation my students will gain valuable experiences that will help them throughout their school years. Thank you in advance for thinking of my students.
