How Do You Spell That?

Help me give my students the best opportunity to use visual, fine motor, and kinesthetic learning so that spelling and sight words go into long-term memory.

My Students

Our school has students from kindergarten through eighth grade. About 75% of the students receive free or reduced-rate lunch. I believe with all my heart that our school is the best kept secret in our district.

The students, faculty, and staff treat each other as family.

It's a safe, nurturing environment for learning and growing students to reach their fullest potential. My students work hard and are thrilled to practice and to learn new skills. My goal is to grow students academically and socially by planting the needed skills to find success in life.

My Project

How many times do we ask to spell a word? Learning to spell generally takes place in the lower grades. My students will get to use these letter tiles, letter stamps, and magnetic dry erase boards to learn their spelling and sight words. The students get to manipulate these tiles and stamps for hands-on learning which enables these words to go into long-term memory.

When using hands-on learning to learn to spell words, the students get to use the form of learning that best benefits their learning style.

Students learn best when they get to see it, do it, and say it.
