My students need math materials for measuring volume, weight, and temperature. More unifix cubes are needed for nonstandard measurement.

My Students
Measurement allows students to have a hands-on learning experience. The tools make it possible for students to get the much needed hands-on experience. The new standards will bring the need for new tools.
My first graders are excited about learning.
About 70% of my class receives free or reduced lunch. There are 16 students in my class. Three students have health issues, and about seven students are below grade level.
Our school is a low performing school. We are working hard to make improvements. Resources are limited but the desire to produce creative and critical thinkers is strong.
My Project
The measurement tools will be used during small group instruction and in math stations.
With the measuring cups and containers, we will be able to make discoveries and comparisons. The thermometer and clock will be used during our whole group calendar time. Each week a different student will be responsible for reading the temperature and answering questions about time. The unifix cubes will add to our small collection of cubes for nonstandard measurement.
Our students deserve every opportunity to grow and be successful.
Their enthusiasm to learn motivates me to find the resources that will empower and inspire them.
The donors to this project will help make learning meaningful for a group of eager first graders.
