My Students
As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with many challenges in and outside of school. My students need to be constantly moving and engaged throughout the school day.
By creating a classroom environment where they can actively learn and participate in their own learning, scholars will be able to relax a little more in the morning.
Already having to leave their general education class makes them upset, but by having more flexible seating within the classroom, would make them want to get their first!
If this project gets funded, my scholars will not fight over the "cool" seats anymore and each be able to pick a more fun seat to sit in each day!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my student's learning by giving them more options to sit comfortably. School can be very stressful for some of them. I would love to see them working on high stool chairs, using stools around the room to collaborate and work together, and a chair lower to the floor where they can feel safe and comforted. We have some flexible seating in our classroom, but now they are beginning to argue over who gets it and dislike having their "set" days. I am hoping we get more so that everyone has an opportunity daily.
