I teach in a very small, rural elementary K-8 public school. Our school consists of mostly economically disadvantaged students. Likewise, our school system suffers from lack of funds.
Because of this lack of funding, our school does not have the supplies needed to keep our classrooms maintained. Our school custodian is not required to keep classrooms maintained, nor is the school required to supply the items needed for cleaning. It is the teacher's responsibility. I take pride in my school and classroom. I want my students to feel safe and at-home when in the classroom. Since, my students spend most of the day in the classroom, I want it to be clean. I am willing to spend the extra time to keep my classroom in tip-top shape, but I can only do this with your help!
I'd like to purchase a student first-aid kit to have for those unexpected, simple emergencies. Unfortunately, since our school does not have a nurse, teachers play many roles in the classroom. I'd also like to purchase a Purell hand sanitizer wall dispenser with 2 refills to keep my students as healthy as possible. Our school restrooms do not have hot water so the students many times are forced to wash their hands with very cold water and many times with no soap. I'd also like to have a mopping bucket w/mop to keep in my room since teachers are required to mop their own rooms yet we do not have access to these supplies. And finally, I'd like to purchase a quality broom and dust pan set to use on a daily basis. Even the students offer to help maintain their classroom when the supplies are provided!
I know this may sound like a strange request, but I really take pride in teaching and the quality of my lessons, but I also want my classroom's environment to be clean, safe, and healthy. I am willing to put forth the time and effort to make this happen. I need your financial help to make a reality. If you decide to help me make this a reality, you will not be disappointed. I will create a learning environment fit a king! Thank you for your consideration for my proposal.
