Hot Off the Press

Help me give my students a heat press machine and vinyl so that my students can create their own t-shirts.

My Students

I teach fifth grade in a school that is approximately sixty-five percent Title I. Over half of our students come from economically disadvantaged homes. We have a diverse group of students including African Americans, Asians and Hispanic students. My students come with a variety of needs and reading levels.

These children come to school each day ready to learn and with smiles on their faces.

They are excited to read and love having the chance to choose books in our classroom library. They love new books and any opportunity to read. They are hard workers and deserve every opportunity that comes their way.

My Project

My students have pride in many of the projects that we do and have great school spirit. We are requesting a Cricut Maker in "There's a Cricut in our Classroom" so that we can make our own shirts to go along with our school projects. I would also love to give out shirts that students make when they reach a milestone in the room, such as mastering their math facts or achieving a milestone in 5th grade. How great would it be to wear class shirts when we are gearing up for a big test, such as M-Step or NWEA? My students would also love to make their own shirts to showcase their everyday school spirit. After we use the cricut to cut our designs out of the vinyl we are requesting, we will use the heat press to fuse them so the designs are permanent.

This project will allow my students to show off their creativity, flexibility, patience and school pride.

How cool would it be to create our own shirts and get to wear them on field trips and to show off their hard work in the classroom? We would love your help to bring these shirts out of our imaginations and hot off the press!
