Read all about it! My students are eager to share what they are learning with their family and friends. I currently teach a group of 20 third graders in a rural community faced with 19% unemployment.

My students work hard daily on improving their writing skills. One particular trait that my students are having difficulty mastering is voice. An idea to better develop this skill is to allow my students to publish their own class newspaper. However, our outdated class printer does not have the capability to create a high volume of copies.

Our class would like an HP Office Pro OJ8500 all-in-one multifunction machine. We would also need the ink cartridges for the machine. After practicing voice in their writing by publishing for a specific audience, my students can create a class newspaper to share their work. This machine would allow my students to print multiple copies of their class newspaper within a limited time period. This multifunction machine would also allow my students to print photos directly from a memory card to include in class projects.

Your help will make it possible for my students to become published journalists. It's not everyday that 3rd graders have the opportunity to see their name credited in a published piece of work.
