My Students
My students are energetic and eager learners who love to read and strive everyday to achieve academic success. However, many are struggling with below level reading comprehension skills and are in need of remedial and intervension learning tools that help them reach higher levels.
Our Title 1 school is located in Brooklyn's East New York and is considered High Poverty with all students qualifying for free lunch.
Budgets being what they are, electronic tools for academic programs are restricted or non-existent. My General Education, ELL and Students with IEP's come from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. But all are ready to take learning up to the next level and prepare for college.
My Project
I will use the Hot Dots to create skill-building learning centers that focus on phonics, grammary and comprehension. Students will rotate between small group instruction with me to small group and/or individual time with the Hot Dot cards. I will also use the Hot Dot system for student comprehension checks and assessments.

This tool will open up the world of reading and send my students on exciting academic adventures. My goal is to hear my students say "Reading Rocks!"
