I teach a fun, active group of 25 second graders. They love to learn and work together. In second grade, we learn a lot of new skills every day. These students are eager to learn and apply their skills every day!
My students are on a variety of levels in the classroom.
They need engaging ways to practice skills they are missing. My students that are reading above level, need engaging ways to challenge their brains! They need independent activities that keep them engaged during our center time.
My Project
My students need activities that allow for differentiation in the classroom. These Hot Dot pen sets will allow students to work on the skills they are struggling with. Student that are working above grade level, will have something they can work that will challenge them and target skills they need to work on. Hot dots allow for independent work. They also are self checking. Students are able to instantly see if their answer was correct or incorrect.
Students will see this learning tool as a game and will be excited to use it every day!

Timers will allow my students to self monitor themselves while they are using the hot dots. Students can set the timer and time their reading speed while using the hot dots. This will help them improve their reading speed, which is a skill we focus on in second grade.
