Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a great group of students this year! They are quick with technology, which is very important this year, as most of our curriculum is online. They are even teaching me some tricks on our Chromebooks! I love watching them grow and learn together.
They are all creative and fun loving kids that just need someone in their lives telling them they can do it!
Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. We also have a a high population of about 65% English Language Learners. Many of my students look to school for stability and love, and that is what I hope to provide them with!
My Project
COVID-19 has affected everything. Our school has worked hard to purchase Chromebooks for every student to use at school (and take home while schools were closed). We incorporate using the Chromebooks in our lessons for each subject, especially for distance learning. While working on assignments, students would ask to borrow a mouse so their hand wouldn't hurt while using the touch pad on the Chromebook. We only had a few available computer mice, so the students would take turns, but with COVID-19, we are trying to make as little contact as possible. Having a computer mouse for each student in my class would help with less contact, an easier sanitation process, and less hand cramps!
