My Students

I teach Biology in the largest school in our County. As with so many schools, funding has been completely cut back, and class sizes are on the rise. One of my primary focuses, other than teaching content, is to make this class one in which all students learn and grow to reach their own individual potential.

My students are athletes, scholars, artists, workers, gifted, challenged, affluent, and impoverished.

Finding common ground for all these characteristics is one of my favorite challenges to undertake.

My Project

Think back to your High School Biology class...what do you remember? The vocabulary? The drawings? The microscope slides?

Chances are, if you remember anything, you remember the day that you dissected a frog.

Due to budget constraints, this staple of biology classes may not continue in the future without your help. Hands on learning is the best, because students will always remember the activity they did. Dissection is a great way to show students how organ systems become more complex as organisms get more complex. Frogs are ideal for this lab, because their internal organs are very similar to our own.
