This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Discovery is the joy of youth! When they come to me, my students are discovering the world through art.

My students may come from a challenging neighborhood, but they have lofty dreams and the heart to make them come true.

Through self expression in Art they are able to share those dreams with the world. Art builds self-esteem and for many, build a sense of worth.

My Project

Colored permanent markers will allow us to explore new media. We will be able to experiment with shrink plastics and create stained-glass effects. We will study Dale Chihuly's glassworks and windows from gothic cathedrals. It will also give us the ability to work on aluminum and old CDs to create art from recycled materials.

Adding new and unusual materials to the children's' art experience always proves to be rewarding.

They enjoy the challenge of working with different mediums. Many of these repurposed materials will not accept normal markers which is why it is so nice to have the Sharpies available. Through recycled art we can explore ways to protect the environment.
