This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My second grade students are inquisitive and are eager to expand their knowledge about the variety of topics that we learn on a daily basis.

Their enthusiasm in learning is evident because they are always finding ways to be challenged.

They have a strong desire to succeed despite limited resources and obstacles beyond their control.

Our school is located in a high poverty area and most students have parents that don't speak English. Also, access to technology at home is limited.

My Project

Every time I say "Take out your whiteboards", my students cheer because they love using them. Then I start hearing some students saying, "I don't have a marker." It would be nice to be able to give my students dry erase markers every time they need one but due to limited supplies, it's not possible.

This project would allow my students to have their own supply of markers to use during reading, writing, math time and small group instruction.

They will also be able to use them with center activities where they have to write with a dry erase marker. Availability of these supplies will keep my students excited about learning because they will be engaged with the activities they are doing.

The next time I say, "Take out your whiteboards" all I will hear is lots of cheers because they will have their own dry erase markers.
