"I love coming to the library!" When I hear these words coming from students, I feel proud to be a part of our elementary school. As a librarian at multiple schools, my connection with students is brief because I am at a different school every day, but when I hear about our students being excited to come to the library, I know the reading seed may have been planted.
The students at our small K-12 elementary school are reading machines!
They are always searching and requesting new titles to read. According to our reading assessment program, our 200 students have read over 10,000 titles this school year. And we are not finished yet!
My Project
As NEA's Read Across America date approaches, our school library needs some new Dr. Seuss books. This is a special day where our school will promote reading, reading and more reading.
What better way to celebrate this day of literacy promotion than by reading books written by the iconic children's author, Dr Seuss!
However, over the years our library's Dr. Seuss books have been loved so well that they are now beginning to fall apart. New Dr. Seuss books would not only be used during our reading celebration, but throughout the school year as well. Helping this project is sure to bring joy to your heart as it adds to our children's continued reading success.
