This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class is comprised of 24 energetic and inquisitive Transitional Kindergartners whose families come from different countries from around the world. For many of them, this is their first school experience and we want to make this experience as positive as possible.

My Project

My students love the idea of playing basketball, but the majority of them lack the muscle strength to shoot at a regulation basket. These mini-size basketballs, adjustable hoops, jersey bibs for practice will get us started into creating teams. The kids have narrowed the teams names into the Lakers and the Sparks.

Having the materials we need will help students gain these three vital skills: teamwork, collaboration and self-confidence.

Our Kindergarten students have no other equipment that is stationary to play with. After these two years of limited activities, I am hoping that the new equipment will help us get moving and enjoying the outdoor once again.
