One of the worst feelings as a teacher is watching your students try and try and still not get the ball into the hoop. Even when they do everyting "right", they push with all their might and they still miss. Usually it is due to the height of the baseketball goal. Making the goal as low as possible still isn't low enough for some. This especially includes my special needs students in wheelchairs and with walkers. It breaks my heart. So how can I make EVERYONE more successful?
Basketball is the most fun sport for them and they look forward to it all year.
These smaller, lower floor goals will allow my students of all heights to become more victorious in their shooting skills. Being more successful will make them more excited to keep trying. It will also teach them that success comes from adapting and trying instead of quitting.
As much as I know the "sturuggle" is important in education, I want to give them the right tools to start the basics with.
