My Project

Technology seems to have become a substitute for outside play for some kids. A lot of children would rather be on their computers, iPads, phones, or playing on some gaming system. They do not want to go out and enjoy the fresh air. This can lead to weight gain, and unhealthy eating habits because they snack while they are playing those video games. It can also limit their social interaction with their peers outside of the school setting.

During recess may be the most running around some of them do.

A lot of the students do not want to play during that time. A lot of the students would rather be on their phones. There have been many times in the beginning of the school year when students asked me can they get on their phones. I explained to them they are not allowed to be on that type of technology during school. I also explained to them one of the reasons why. There has been times in the news where children had their phones, and social media bullying occurred and I can not monitor 26 kids on social media at one time.

There is only one basketball rim on the playground, the other one is not there. Everyday there are about 15-20 boys playing on that one court. With your help and generosity, it will allow the students to have two basketball rims to play on.
