This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day. Most of my students are at least one to two years below grade level in reading. They are willing to give their best effort to improve but need your assistance.
My students attend school at a turnaround school in an urban school district.
My students are amazing children! Each child is a unique individual and they have a vast range of learning abilities. They come in to school eager to learn and are willing to do what it takes to improve their education. When they enter in the classroom they leave behind any issues that may be going on at home or in their neighborhood and focus on bettering their education.
My Project
My students try so hard, but despite their best efforts many are at least one to years below grade level in reading. In order to become better readers students need to hear fluent, expressive reading. If students are able to hear fluent, expressive reading they will begin to read fluently with expression themselves. Students need practice with comprehension and demonstrating what they understand. Through the donation of the listening centers and materials to go along with it students will be able to begin their long journey to raising their reading levels. Students can then take what they have heard and learned at the listening center and apply it to Reader's Theater Scripts and model for the class what they have accomplished.
This donation will make a huge difference in the lives of children who are willing to put in the extra effort to get where they need to be.
Help make a difference in the lives of my amazing, dedicated and hard working 4th graders. Thank you!!
