This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am hoping to get a class set of "Ay, Mija," graphic novels for my classroom. My students are special education students and primarily of Latino backgrounds. This books will be a great way to engage my students and help them to become life long readers! We will be able to study both the art and the literature, allowing for hands on and visual experiences. They will be able to see their culture and native language represented in the text, which will help with comprehension and retention. I am so excited to provide engaging, rigorous, and relevant curriculum to my students!
