My Project

I love watching my students discover a series they can’t wait to keep reading. When they connect with characters who feel real and funny, reading stops feeling like work and starts feeling exciting. These books give my second graders the practice they need to strengthen decoding skills, build vocabulary, and improve comprehension in a meaningful way. Books in a series are especially powerful because familiar characters and predictable structures support confidence and stamina. Often, students will enjoy a book in a series and want to read more from that series. As their fluency grows, so does their pride, independence, and willingness to tackle new challenges.
