My Students

My kindergarten students have a love-love relationship with our books. They love to listen to a good story and they love to read a good book on their own. Whenever a book gets torn, it's as if a huge chasm opened up and was about to swallow up the accidental offender. That's why our Book Hospital is close at hand.

We love books so much that you can see the wear and tear from over use (if there is such a thing).

My kids love all of the Pete the Cat and the Eric Carle books. Whenever they get the chance, they grab a mat and a buddy, plop down and have fun reliving and retelling the story that they'd probably heard a million times.

My Project

Replacements are needed for the books that have received some TLC-Tape, Love and Care in our classroom. There is nothing better than seeing new books added to our classroom library. It's great when students are explaining why they should have a particular book over someone else.

The joy of reading should be experienced with brand new books.

Independent reading time is when my kindergarteners get to select their own books. Being able to have a superior selection in the classroom will not only allow them to develop great reading skills, it also allows them to decide on the newly acquired genres.

The joy of reading is something that should exist in every child.
