As a Title 1 reading teacher, I need to take Spanish language courses in order to better teach my Spanish speaking students and their parents. <profdevpilot>

My Students
As our Spanish speaking student population continues to grow, I would like to learn to speak Spanish in order to better communicate to my students and their parents.
Over 60% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
We are a small school in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada with increasing number of Spanish speaking families moving into our district. As a Title 1 reading teacher, it is important for me to learn to communicate to the students and parents in their native language.
My Project
I will be able to use the iPad to learn to speak Spanish via computer language programs such as Rossetta Stone and take Spanish language course work section cspan 1A Beginning Spanish at Columbia College. The use of technology can enhance and allow me to rapidly learn Spanish.
Learning to communicate to my Spanish speaking students and parents in their native language will improve my relationship with them.
Through trust and respect, they can embrace the education process and become involved in our school community.
More than half of students from low‑income households
