This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Located in a rapidly changing, culturally diverse neighborhood, with over 85% of the students from economically disadvantaged families, Families need to bring their children to school so they can work. Currently the 25 % of the students who attended face to face classes have higher needs medically and/or physical needs.

Students with higher medical needs are at higher risk because they need need personal care services that reduce social distancing with staff.

Students with downs syndrome or intellectual disabilities, hug or touch staff members without washing their hands, and may remove their facial mask, creating risky situations for maintaining safety considerations for other students and staff. More students will return to school because of the need for consistent internet for online learning, engaging learning activities that are not accessible from home, and the need for structured learning environments.

My Project

The Honeywell Air Purifiers will be used in the classroom to help keep the Special Education Life Skills students with high needs, students with physical disabilities, and students with cognitive disabilities safer during the Covid 19 pandemic. Social distancing is reduced or eliminated for some students wo require physical contact for g-tube feedings or during a seizure. Although mask precautions and safety warnings are provided, students masks will not remain on. The Honeywell Air purifier will reduce bacteria, viruses and mold by 99.9% ensuring better air quality and reducing risk of Covid 19 to students, staff, and their families.
