My Students
My classroom is for academically gifted elementary students. I teach students ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. They are inquisitive, kind, and thrilled to see what challenges I have in store for them every day. They are avid readers who love to discuss a good book. We have just finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and I am looking for a way to provide a cool culminating activity that bridges homework and classwork together and truly celebrates our reading accomplishments.
With my students, learning is an adventure...as it should be.
My Project
I am asking the kids to create a Harry Potter based art project for homework so they can take charge of designing our HP themed classroom. I ordered each child a canvas bag that they can decorate and use to check out art supplies like candle making kits, soap making supplies, Mosaic tiles and more. These supplies make creative projects easy because the kids will be able to take home the supplies they need and not have to be limited by the supplies they already own. Kids will be free to explore new mediums for their art work beyond simple poster design and learn new skills. The best part is they will enjoy doing this homework.
