Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Despite some of the challenges they face in and around their environment, every year my students come to school excited, full of life, and eager to learn.
I am back to teaching Pre-K this year.
This year will be very different due to COVID-19. I will serve approximately 19-24 students for the 2020-2021 school year with a wide range of abilities, needs, and concerns. My students are in a low income/high poverty school in which more than 80% of the students receive free or reduced-price meals.
When children have a strong foundation of learning, they are able to stay on track to remain in school, graduate, and pursue post-secondary education and training to successfully transition into adulthood.
Children make my classroom their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. No matter who enters through my classroom doors, they become part of our school family. So this year, I want to make my students as safe as possible in the classroom and provide items to help them during remote learning.
My Project
We need binder pockets to keep items being sent home secure from falling out of their folders. We would like to add some flashcards to their homework folder.
They need these resources to make sure they have the tools needed to complete their homework.
The crayons and pencils are for them to take home in their binder pockets.
We frequently hear comments that the students don't have crayons or pencils at home. We would like to provide those for them. I am sure they will be thrilled to get these items.
