Homemade Books Inspire Young Readers

Help me give my students a way to make homemade books for our classroom library!

My Project

I teach PreK at a title 1 school where most students are impacted by low-income. Many of my students have never been to school or daycare so their first out of the home experience is my classroom. Transitioning to school can be a frightening experience for some of these children. My program serves children of all abilities and is needs based. Families must meet qualification requirements in order to attend.

Homemade books inspire young children to love reading!

The items in this project will allow me to make homemade books throughout the year with my students. We can create pages and use the binding machine to make quality books for our learning centers. In addition to books for our classroom, we can also make unique gifts like recipe books, calendars, and memory books for students to take home with them as well.

I strive to include literacy in all aspects of our classroom. Children love books especially those that they have a connection too. Homemade books that they make or ones that include pictures of them are timeless learning tools for young children.
