Home-School Lending Library

My students need book bags and leveled books so we can build a strong home-school connection and help encourage families to read daily. Students will bring books home that they practice at school.

My Students

I'm pleased to introduce you to the Flappy Rainbow Tigers! My sweet and engergetic class of 6, 7, and 8 year olds have aptly decided on Flappy Rainbow Tigers as our class name this year. We are a happy class of learners and a caring and empathetic group of children. At the COOP students are encouraged to learn not only about traditional academic subjects but also focus on empathy and relationships as important pieces of children who will grow up to be out of the box thinkers and leaders.

Students in our class come from all walks of life and bring a range of wonderful differences to our room.

As a charter school we have students from all over San Diego and the richness of diversity in our classroom creates a unique fabric of learners. We celebrate students individual learning journeys and delight in the differences that make all of us unique.

My Project

Research shows that reading at home is the single most powerful indicator for a child's literacy success at school. Sending books home to make reading at home accessible and comprehensible for parents and students can be achieved by creating and lending library. My project will create a library of books that students will practice at school and then can take home so they can practice and share their love of reading at home with their families.

Book bags and engaging literature will help create a classroom of life long readers.

When students see that their parents and families value reading at home they will be more likely to see reading as part of their daily lives. A lending library and book bags helps parents to know clearly how and what to read with the child on a nightly basis.
