This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students initially come in to math class with fear, loathing, and trepidation. Their past math traumas tend to creep up and be forefront on their minds. A cold, sterile, brick classroom that is lacking in visual warmth can be stressful to students and learning will be stunted.
When students are stressed, they can't learn properly.
Creating a welcoming, home-like atmosphere with this area rug will help my students to relax and engage in taking academic risks. When basic needs are met, such as comfort, real learning can take place.
