Help me give my students the materials they need to be successful in art class this year. I want them to be able to complete a variety of art projects, using sketchbooks, oil pastels, paints, and collage materials.

My Project

I teach a small virtual art class where students learn about the principles of design, the elements of art, and the history of art from prehistoric times to today. As you can imagine, learning art from home has its own set of special challenges! One of these is that we do not get to have shared supplies that can continue to be used by students year to year, as in a traditional classroom. That's where DonorsChoose, and donors like you come in.

I want to grow this art program beyond the confines of drawing on notebook paper, and give my students the true experience of creating a variety of art projects, right in their own homes.

In my class, my students travel through time and space to learn about art from other time periods and cultures, creating art that represent these movements. To do this, they need a set of good art materials!

My goal with this project is that this year I will be able to get beyond only drawing by getting a variety of art materials that will let my students draw, paint, and sculpt in their numerous art projects. This year, I don't want them to have to draw a Greek Column, I want them to be able to sculpt one. Instead of drawing something akin to Impressionism, they deserve to be able to paint with watercolors in that style. I want them to be able to try their hands at collage and origami, and just in general, use a variety of materials and surfaces on which to practice their budding talents!
