Home Away from Home: Comfort for Every Learner

My Project

For the past five years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of working as a special education teacher. Supporting students with diverse needs has taught me how important it is to make every child feel seen, supported, and safe. As a mom of two children myself, I know how much the environment shapes a child's learning experience. This year, my school has asked me to take on a new role as a fourth-grade general education teacher, and I’m excited to bring my passion for inclusive, nurturing spaces into this new classroom.

As I prepare for this transition, I am building my classroom from the ground up, and much of that is coming out of my own pocket.

I'm asking for your support to help create a warm, inviting, and functional learning space where students can truly thrive.

I’m hoping to add flexible seating options to help students feel more comfortable and focused, and I’d love to soften the harsh classroom lighting to create a more calming environment. I also need shelving and book bins to keep our space organized and accessible, so that all learners can feel set up for success.

Because we’re departmentalized, I will be teaching reading and writing to two fourth-grade classes, impacting 44 students in total. Your donation will directly support each of these students by helping create a space where they feel welcomed, valued, and excited to learn every day.
