My Students
My students work hard to produce great music. They need all the resources possible to obtain great musicianship. Most of my students come into class not knowing how to even open the case to an instrument and after a semester of spending time with the instrument and with sheet music, they are able to perform in front of an audience. I hold them to high expectations, but I also try to offer them an outlet to escape from problems they may be having.
My Project
Because the band program is growing, the number of students I have next year will be a lot more than expected. This is awesome, but more music stands are needed in order for two students to share a stand. It is impractical for three or four students to share one stand and could make them easily frustrated and possibly make them want to quit. A lot of our stands are older and some have completely broken down. Some are not even able to hold a piece of music anymore. Funding this project would help students to see that others care about our band program growing, and it would help them to read their music.
