My Project
Our rural school continues to suffer due to the negative impacts COVID-19 had with the lack of in-person learning. Students lost academics, social skills, and productivity. Student apathy increased because students were left to work independently without hands-on resources and instruction. Technology plays an important role in instruction today, but students need authentic, visual resources for opportunities to become well-balanced learners. Our ESL students especially need one-on-one and group instruction with the books, cards, and visuals we are requesting. Resources will be used for our non-English speaking students and those learning Spanish to expand their language/communication skills. The requested items will be available in our library and my classroom for all of our students to access and assist teachers with authentic teaching. These tools will have a positive impact on students to increase academics, social skills, language, and stronger work habits to become lifelong learners.
