This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are interested in the world around them. They are city kids with a keen interest in learning new things. They love to explore, to write, to build, and to read. As the ELD teacher for kindergarten, first and second grade, I spend my time pushing into classrooms to teach English language learners.

My students come from an impoverished background, but they also have strong family ties and parents who want the best for them.

Our school is very large and with the latest state budget cuts, our group sizes will be much larger than normal. This won't stop us from becoming a school family looking out for each other and learning everything we can in these first pivotal years of school.

My Project

We are in our first year of two way dual language. Our students are learning to read in their home language, but some subject areas are in English and some are in Spanish. We need centers that support bilingual education. As we come back to in person learning from Virtual on November 9th, I'm hoping that these fresh new supplies will invigorate our teaching staff to be able to provide lots of opportunities for students to explore without actually sharing materials. The books are in both languages which supports the whole team.
