This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students actively work toward meeting their goals. I tell them "four on the floor" because they like to wobble backward or forward on two or possibly one leg of their chairs. It is a real fear of what could happen when they wobble like this.

They come into school every day eager to learn something new.

We are a Title I school with close to 600 students. The majority of my students are English Language Learners who need additional materials to support learning new vocabulary and skills simultaneously. Many people have said that our school is a hidden treasure, and for that reason, it can be difficult to locate. Because we are tucked into a small neighborhood, and we do not receive much community support to fund classroom needs. Many of our teachers purchase materials independently or seek funding for materials.

My Project

Hokki stools provide an ergonomic manner for people to sit. You can move but still sit. This is important for kindergarten students. The students will sit on the 2 Hokki stools while working at the independent work table. This will provide them a safe place to sit and work. I can see them feeling secure while they read, complete math tasks, write, and more. This will allow them to focus on their goals.

My project will make a difference for my students as they are developing many skills and abilities throughout the year.

Learning to sit while working is as important for them as learning their letters and sounds and learning to count to 100. Your support will give them what they need to be successful learners.
