My Project
"Sit", "Come back", "Feet on floor" are all phrases that I use daily in my classroom. My students have difficulty staying in their seats while we have our morning meetings, storytime, and small group time. My kiddos are full of the wiggles and are constantly on the go. With the bouncing chairs, they will have an easier time staying in their seats because they will be able to have a sense of movement without having to leave their chairs. When I can get them to stay in their seats, I will be able to teach them the skills that they need to learn for their IEP goals.
I currently have five nonverbal PreK students (the number of students will increase during the year) who all have goals of increasing their attention span that I must try to achieve during the school year.
I teach a special PreK unit where my kiddos are learning basic life skills as well as communicating their basic wants and needs either with expressive language or gestures. However, I must have their attention in order to teach them. The busy board will help increase their attention spans as it relates to reaching their IEP goals.
With your help, I will be able to increase the amount of instruction time while decreasing the amount of time I use redirecting the little ones. Ultimately, leading to their success in Kindergarten readiness, independent functioning, and best of all...communication. Thank you so much!
