This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students deserve a calming, relaxing environment with the necessary sensory tools that help with self-regulation and developing healthy coping skills. The fidgets and thinking putty will help students re-focus and re-charge so they can engage on their academic skills in the classroom. The weighted lap blankets will help reduce stress to help students feel calm. The cabinet shelf will help us stay organized and neat when fidgets are not in use. Having access to these sensory tools will help create an environment that allows students to feel comfortable opening up and work through the stresses they are facing in their lives.
Teaching students self-regulation skills will allow them to learn how to handle their strong reactions and find ways to express their emotions in a more effective (and less disruptive) manner.
Having these coping tools will help students manage their emotions and have a successful day at school.
